[Nairobi: July 15, 2026] During the official opening ceremony of DUBrains2026 conference, Daystar University officially launched the Journal of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Innovation and Society (JAIDIS).

Commenting on the journal, the Vice Chancellor envisioned the publication as Africa's premier academic journal on AI research, spanning education, healthcare, law, governance, business, agriculture, and faith.

While many AI journals focus exclusively on technological advancement, JAIDIS is intentionally designed around a broader spectrum. It is envisioned that by 2032, JAIDIS will become Africa's premier AI journal, characterized by Scopus indexing, Web of Science indexing, international authorship from more than 50 countries, a globally respected editorial board, and high citation impact.

The launch of JAIDIS represents more than the creation of another academic journal; it aspires to shape public policy, influence ethical AI practice, inspire global scholarship, advance African innovation and humanize technology.

“The greatest journals do not merely archive research, they define the future of scholarship.  Likewise, the greatest institutions do not merely respond to change, they shape it; and the greatest innovations do not simply make life more efficient, they make life more meaningful,” concluded the VC.
