[Athi River, July 11, 2026] Daystar University recently hosted an alumni homecoming event that brought together class of 2006 graduates, university leaders, and stakeholders to discuss strengthening of the alumni network and its future direction.

Representing the Vice Chancellor was the DVC (Academic, Research and Student Affairs), Prof. Samuel Muriithi, accompanied by the Main Campus Director, Dr. Anne Wachira, and Mr. Maurice Kioko from the Office of the University Registrar who sits on the Alumni Board 2006.

Opening the meeting with devotion and prayer, the Nairobi Campus Pastoral Assistant, Felix Simotwo, set a tone of gratitude and unity.

The gathering focused on growth of the Daystar Alumni Chapter and several initiatives designed to increase alumni participation and support for the university. Among the key projects presented were the MILE Initiative, the establishment of an Alumni Shop, the organization of an Alumni Gala Dinner, a Recruitment Fair, a Constitution Review, a Call for Partnerships, and the introduction of an Alumni Membership Card to strengthen alumni identity and engagement.

Prof Muriithi urged the Class of 2006 to carry forward the ethos of Daystar University in everything they do. He further called on the Alumni to come back to Alma Marta and share their knowledge and expertise with the students, whether as lecturers or guest lecturers in their respective fields.
“As alumni we have a role to play in building this great institution. Daystar is ours, and it is for our children, “said prof Muriithi.

During the meeting, Dr. Anne Wachira encouraged alumni to pursue excellence in all they do, reminding them that "our work becomes excellent when we look up to God." Her message inspired attendees to continue serving society with integrity and faith.

Speaking on behalf of the Daystar Alumni Board, Maurice Kioko highlighted the steady growth of the alumni association. He shared about plans for an upcoming alumni dinner at the Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi, emphasizing that the event would provide an opportunity for graduates to reconnect, network, and strengthen professional and personal relationships. He also noted that the board was working to increase alumni engagement through more collaborative activities and meaningful partnerships.

The meeting also recognized the contribution of Walter Nalwa (Class of 2023), who serves as the DUAA Secretariat Administrator, for supporting the coordination of alumni activities.

Additionally, the Daystar Legal Aid Society announced preparations for the civil education in Samburu on legal matters that would promote the growth of the community.

Following the meeting, the alumni embarked on a nostalgic campus tour, revisiting the places where they had studied, worshipped, and built lifelong friendships over two decades ago. The walk around the campus sparked cherished memories as members of the Class of 2006 reflected on their university journey, shared stories from their student days, and celebrated the milestones they have achieved over the past 20 years. The tour served as a powerful reminder of Daystar University's lasting impact on their personal, professional, and spiritual lives while reaffirming their commitment to giving back to their alma mater.

Overall, the meeting demonstrated Daystar University's dedication to building a vibrant alumni community that remains connected, supports one another, and contributes to the university's mission of academic excellence, leadership, and service.
